Essential oils for cooking

Essential Oils For Cooking

The first tips are for essential oils for cooking. Essential oils are a great way to add favor to your meals. They bring out the fresh taste of herbs and spices. I purchased a fantastic book, Modern Essentials by Aroma Tools. This book is for doTerra essential oils. I have to say, doTerra oils are my go to oil of choice.

When cooking with essential oils you need to know the amount to use and when to add it to your recipe or meal. Remember to keep in mind, that essential oils are very concentrated, so you do not use as much oil as you would a spice or herb. Modern Essentials recommends using one or two drops and adjust amount according to taste. It is also wise to know when to add your essential oils. It is best to wait for the food to cool before adding your oils. The preferred time to add essential oils is at the end of cooking. It is a major concern not to allow your essential oils to evaporate during cooking. I would hate for my hard work go to waste, how do your feel about knowing when to add your essential oils?

Time For Relaxing and Energizing Essential Oils

Okay Guys and Gals, does anyone know of an essential oil for relaxing? Did I hear you say Lavender? That is a great one. Of course, it is not the only relaxing essential oil on the market. I will get to that soon, but first essential oils are a natural way to clear the mind and body. There are no side effects like a medicine. Essential oils can help the body de-stress. Some of the essential oils that relax you are: Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Orange, Ylang Ylang, and Rose.

Relaxation Situations:

I have found several ways to use these soothing oils: use a diffusser, on my pillow/sheets, as a linen spray or in a relaxing bath. My favorite way, is on my pillow or sheets at night. I use Lavender the most to relax me and my family. If you use a linen spray, it can get clogged. You can resolve this by, dissolving the essential oil you choose with 1 teaspoon of grain alcohol before adding your water to the spray bottle. I am sure at this point, you may be asking what is grain alcohol? It is a pure alcohol made from grains like corn. You can use a lot of essential oil or a little of essential oil. Just remember one drop goes a long way!

Now if your need to energize yourself! There are also several essential oils that can get the job done. They are great right when you wake-up or just need a little pick me up. Hey guys and gals, can you try this and tell me how it works? When you need a caffeine drink, use a energizing essential oil instead of the caffeine drink. Tell me if the essential oil gave you a natural pick me up! Did you need to drink a caffeine too? Okay, as promised here are a few energizing essential oils: Peppermint, Wintergreen, Lemon, Eucalyptus, and Basil. Please be very careful with these oils. Are your listening? I am being very serious, PLEASE BE CAREFUL! These essential oils are strong in odor and can burn your eyes.

Lemon and Peppermint

Energizing Situations:

Just like the relaxing oils, you can use these essential oils in a diffusser. You can also use a few drops in a morning drink or in the bath/shower. If you put it in a drink, you can add Peppermint, Lemon or Orange to water or to a smoothie. All you need is a few drops and your off to drinking heathly. I personally like adding essential oils to a bath or shampoo in the shower. You can ever make a bath sea salt scrub to exfoliate your skin. Okay guys and gals, all you have to do is combine several drops of your essential oil with 1/2 cup of Epsom salt or Sea Salt. This will make for a luxurious bath. My favorite is Lavender at night and Lemon for the morning. You can also use blends too. It is fun to come up with your own blends. Have fun creating!

Ending Notes . . .

Essential Oils are used for different everyday uses. They are great for cooking with, for relaxing/energizing your body, using in the shower or bath, personal care, and using them to clean or disinfect your house. Experiment with your oils and have fun, but please be safe. As always, if you have a question please type it in the comments area. I will be happy to answer any of your questions.
